当地时间4月9日（北京时间为4月10日）奥运火炬在美国的旧金山传递，事先 藏独及其支持者都作了大量准备，声称在那天要充分表现一番，但是这一天来了，他们显示出来的力量却并不强大，而为支持维护中国领土主权完整，支持奥运的声势所淹没。
如果说是因为旧金山政府和北京奥组委出于安全考虑，在第一棒交接结束后决定临时改道。避开了他们聚集的地方，但他们的对立面也是一样，不少支持奥运的华人，由于不知情，守候多时仍没能看到圣火。而在各处所见，都是维护中国的统一和支持奥的人数，大大超过藏独的支持者。
在英文雅虎搜索中找到奥运火炬在美国的旧金山传递时的新闻图片三百多张，主要是美联社所拍摄，其中数十张有抗议示威者出现，一张一张看下来后，我发现原来在那里呼喊西藏独立者主要是白人，而不是藏人，其中从面貌上可以看出是藏人的不足十人，他（她）们的年龄看起来多在三、四十岁以下，不大会是西藏出生和成长，而是接受的西方教育，所以他们的诉求有多大程度能代表真正的居住在西藏的藏民，我怀疑。
因为从中国的历史可以知道，当晚清积弱，在列强面前连吃败仗，割地赔款，国库空虚无力照顾西藏之际。外来势力威胁利诱尚未能将西藏拉出去；在辛亥革命帝制终结，日本入侵，国共两党内战等中央政府无力顾及西藏之时机，藏人都没有闹独立。就是现在，据称是他们的精神领袖的达赖喇嘛也仍在不断申明他没有要求独立，但何以独立却成了这些抗议示威者的主要诉求？
下面这些画面倒是有助于我们增加认识。
这些要求西藏独立的人有几个是藏人？

几位出来为藏独说话的都是白人。

这些人看起来岁数不大，很难说就是什么帝国主义分子或是受雇佣来搞破坏的，或许他们还自以为是道德高尚，在主持正义呢。他们多以为西藏本是独立的，上世纪五十年代才被中国占领。所以不是简单地骂一通就能解决的，需要沟通和了解，如果他们知道在政教合一的农奴制度下，西藏是什么样子，也会改变看法的。看到这位中国女士处之泰然的神态，使我相信这种沟通与交流，会因这次对抗而加强。从下面的画面中可以看到，参与争论的华人是多么的投入，他们是秉承自己的良知在为中国呐喊。

相形之下，出来发表诉求的藏人寥寥可数，而且显然底气不足，下面那位男士卷起他的旗子跑开了。

据捷报奥运(搜吧)联盟 特派记者王继飞旧金山4月9日报道：今天现场同样有不少藏独分子以及当地的一些人权组织在当地的部分街道举行了一些示威游行。但当地警方把场面控制得不错，没有什么激烈的冲突发生。据得到的最新消息，当地警方已经逮捕了至少3名试图闹事的藏独分子。不知是不是下面的照片中的三位。
三名被逮捕者中，两人是白人女性，也许这也可以作为我所提出问题的一个答案。
